ColorBoxes 1.0alpha4
Brian Babcock/Mark Wang - January 2, 1997
Well, you've been waiting all this time - here it is. This release adds
2 player local play, as well as one player solo. The Holy Grail of
Internet play is also one step closer to reality, as this release has a
lot of networking code, not functional at this point, but we're working on
it... =) So this release is actually more than meets the eye.
NOTE: This release features some control changes. The player 1
controls remain the same (left/right to move, up to rotate, down to drop)
The change is that now, you must hold down the down key for a piece to
drop.
The second player's controls are 'i' to rotate, 'j'/'l' to move left/right
respectively, 'k' to drop (again, you must hold it down)
What's new
- 2-player local play works
- Major speed improvements
- Funky credits scroller thing
- Many behind-the-scenes improvements; eg. addition of network hooks,
etc.
To do
- Finish network play!!! (FIRST PRIORITY)
- Make the game thread exit gracefully on game over, so you can start
another game
- Visual/sound
Bugs
- To restart the game, you must quit the browser first.
- Keys are erratic on Mac Netscape 3.0
- Credits scroller doesn't work on Mac Netscape 3.0 (throws
SecurityException)
Please report bugs not on the list to <mwang@leland.stanford.edu>.
Also, if you want to be notified when we make another release, let me know
too!
