july 22-23, 2000 this weekend was unusual in that i actually went out on saturday night. wow! if you know me, you know that i prefer to stay home most of the time (some people might say that i don't have a life, but i beg to differ. i have a life, just not a social life. hee hee). so here's the scoop on saturday night. jocelyn and i met up with our friend ameeta from stanford (who's currently attending georgetown law school) at the woodley park/adams morgan metro station. our first stop was a potluck dinner get-together for our friend anu, who's leaving the area to go back to school (i think). we mingled with the mostly-stanford group there, nibbled on pizza and various finger foods, and then headed out to catch the metro one stop down the red line to dupont circle, to an apartment where ameeta's law school friends were gathered to celebrate a birthday. the music was loud, people were friendly and slightly intoxicated. it was nice meeting ameeta's friends, but i was exhausted by the time we left, around 1 am. plus we kind of got lost trying to find the dupont circle metro station (we accidentally went the wrong way) and so eventually found the farragut north station (here's a map of the metro system). we caught the very last train into virginia from gallery place/chinatown, and i was home by 2:20ish. whew! the next morning, i was soooo tired. i think it was a combination of saturday morning's workout and all the walking i did saturday night. my legs could barely support me in the shower, and i spent most of the day lounging around in bed. i even took a nap in the early evening. yawn! my eyes are tired! my left eye's fold has doubled in size! eek! i don't mind the increase in size; i just don't like walking around with uneven eyes. but usually this kind of thing goes away in a day or two. okay, i just reread my previous entry, and i used "yay" way too many times! it's quite amusing, actually. you know, i also say "quite" and "actually" often, too. and of course, "hee hee" is a staple of my everyday speech. i think i need to expand my vocabulary! infuse it with fresh new words! i know this is extremely nerdy/geeky, but i used to read my brother's wordsmart book when i was bored... and there have been instances where i've been known to leaf through a dictionary for fun! hee hee. i've been reading up on julia's journal recently, and i'm amazed at the depth of detail in her entries (not to mention the small font size /squint/)! it's so fun reading about all her adventures, especially since she's a lot more socially active than i. i've concluded that i like reading online journals so much because i get to live life vicariously through other people. :) i've added another bulletin board to my daily perusal list -- the asian journalist bb! go check it out and add your comments, start new threads, go wild! heh. thanks to michael for yet another brilliant idea. i'm trying to transition from white, refined grains to whole grains. that means whole-wheat tortillas and milton's healthy multi-grain bread. and i've been trying to eat more fruits and veggies. i had a greenleaf lettuce and tomato salad for dinner yesterday, dressed with a delicious balsamic vinaigrette from trader joe's. mmmmm. which reminds me, another trip to TJ's is in order, to pick up more tofutti cuties! yay!
