july 8-9, 2000 welcome to my new website! please take a moment to look around... and thank you for visiting. :) feel free to share your thoughts with me on the brand-new guestbook. i'm glad the site's finally up... it took several days of intense work to complete. the look is completely different than my previous site, which i like because it's about time for a change. read more about my webpage's history and the development of the newest version on the truth page. the graphics had been ready for a few days, but i needed to generate some content, as well as figure out the html, javascript, and css coding to get my page fully functional (i'm against using wysiwyg html editors. i prefer coding by hand). so that's what i did yesterday and today. i've been learning about css on webmonkey, and since i remember learning about it in an html/js class i took at stanford (although it wasn't really part of the class), it wasn't too difficult to pick up. i like the idea of style sheets because they keep my code clean, in accordance with my minimalism theme. :) i consider this effort to be a renaissance of sorts for my site, since i'm beginning afresh instead of adding on or changing what i already have. i've cut out many sections/pages that used to be on my other page. i will be adding a bio section sometime, but i'm not going to have a separate photo gallery or poem/artwork/roses page. although my old journal archives will still be available, they won't be a part of this site. i like it this way... it's more streamlined, more simple. and we all know that simplicity is superior. :) in order to ensure everything was working the way it should, i spent quite a bit of time viewing the site using both IE and netscape. please use IE, if available, for best results... netscape doesn't seem to be as facile with the css and general table format. but i think i've gotten the code to be pretty much cross-platform. if you see anything terribly amiss, please e-mail me. i think i'll keep this entry short. :) i need to clean up my room and maybe go grocery shopping... typical weekend errand-type stuff. see you soon though. :)
