august 8-9, 2000 monday was quite an informative day. i learned that one of my longtime friends got engaged, and my freshman year roommate got her belly button pierced! i can't believe jo got a piercing -- as far as i know, she doesn't even have her ears pierced. our freshman year, we were known as the most mismatched roommates in the dorm -- not in a bad way, more in an amusing way. we actually got along really well. outwardly, though, we were on different ends of the spectrum -- she was the tomboy, i was the girly girl. she never carried a purse until senior year and as far as i know, she doesn't own any makeup. why she would want to get pierced is a complete mystery to me. maybe she's feeling the need to rebel. all i know is that if i ever saw her wearing platforms and a belly-button baring top instead of her usual sneakers and jeans, i'd faint from the shock. heh. /smile/ i had a blast talking to a beauty advisor at beauty.com yesterday:
Bailey: Hello Clara, how may I help you today? i ended up ordering the cargo set, but not the versace eyebrow pencil. while i've heard good things about this pencil, dark brown is too dark for me. i prefer a light greyish brown, such as a greyed taupe tone. i think that looks the most natural for my sparse, fine eyebrows. and black is definitely a no-no! yay... i got my jelly belly samples! the package was only 1 oz, but... say it with me, "i love free stuff." heh. seriously. the tiny sample pack only whet my appetite for more jelly bellies! yum. my week started out on a low note, but thankfully there have been splashes of sunshine amidst the dark clouds... thanks to my friends. i caught up with two of my college friends monday night, both of whom i talk to only occasionally. i'm so grateful for friendship! :) thanks also to my friends online, including jon and dave for lending a listening "ear" on AIM! :) julia and i are planning on getting our hair cut, straightened, and highlighted at a korean salon in maryland. yay! i'm excited! :) this also helped lift me out of my glum mood. work's been killing me... last night i was here til 9 pm, and tonight it'll be a late night as well. yesterday we had to verify 3 cycle days' worth of scripts, which took all day, and in addition i had to verify regression test scripts (from last week, since we had problems). and tonight is another build, so more regression testing! on the bright side, this is my fourth and final stint of regression testing... so i'm free! freeeeeeeeee! :D
