Here's the first big event for the year and the one I've been looking
forward to for the past year. My goal is to finish the century ride (100 miles)
but if it's not looking good in the first couple hours, I'll probably just
settle for the 70 mile ride. But I can't imagine choosing the easier way
out so I'll probably suffer through all 100 miles. The course is supposed to
be gently rolling hills (whatever that means). But I've heard the wind can get
pretty crazy so that'll be a challenge.
The event is a multi-day event. It kicks off Friday with the Rock for the Roses.
Some well-known bands are expected to be there. Should be fun. Saturday has
some panels, a 5k run (which I'll skip), and the expo. Then Sunday morning is
the ride. Afterwards there is a small party to replenish some lost energy. It'll
be interesting to see how I feel after 7 or so hours on my bike.
