POSITION:	Summer Conference Computing Coordinator
HOURS:	8-hour daily schedule Monday-Friday
DURATION:	Summer (06/16/08 - 09/05/08, extensible to 09/19/08)
TRAINING:	Tuesdays/Thurdays (05/20/2008 - 06/05/08)
PAY:	$16.00 an hour. Guaranteed and subsidized on campus housing can be arranged.

Job Description

The Summer Conference Computing Coordinator is the primary contact person between Residential Computing, the Conference Office, and conference attendees with regard to technical summer computing support.

There is one full time position available beginning June 16, 2008. Some part time preparation is required before this date, starting May 20th, 2008. Conference duties conclude by September 5, 2008, but additional work is available through September 19, 2008 helping with cluster setup and in preparation for next year's Summer Conference Computing Services.

Duties

• Coordinate computer hardware and cluster preparation and support for Summer Conferences, including weekend cell phone and email support.
• Maintain IP addresses for individuals and groups in NetDB.
• Manage a complex schedule of Residential Computing clusters and resources.
• Work on other short-term projects as assigned.
• Maintain invoices for all services provided to conferences. Keep accurate accounting records of all collected and outstanding bills.
• Maintain detailed paper and online records; track equipment used by conferences.
• Summarize in detail Summer Conference Computing services rendered, by category.

Requirements for the position

• Available and committed to work 06/16/08 through 09/05/08. Willingness to work through 9/19/08 a plus. Up to a week of unpaid vacation can be taken in July or August, to be coordinated with managers.
• Able to work a regular 8 hour schedule Monday-Friday.
• Extremely high level of responsibility and customer service.
• Able to work independently and take initiative in providing assistance.
• Possess a high familiarity with computers, including experience using basic Internet applications, troubleshooting network connectivity problems, and installing network and printing hardware on Mac OS and Windows XP.
• Familiar with basic networking principles, especially TCP/IP.
• Able to lift 40 pounds. Able to drive a plus.
• Willing to carry a cell phone during both "on-duty" and "off-duty" hours.
• Possess excellent verbal and written communications skills.
