The Summer Central Office Technician is paid starting at $16.00 an hour. Guaranteed and subsidized on campus housing can be arranged.

Job Description
The Central Office Technician provides technical and operational support to ResComp staff during the summer. The central tech supplements the summer cluster techs, RCCs, and conference coordinator as needed.
One 40hr/week position available beginning June 11, 2009.
Duties
- Assists in creating and deleting NetDB records for conference attendees.
- Assists in inventorying and deploying new cluster equipment. Manages inventory for equipment cycled out from clusters.
- Assists Summer Conference Computing Coordinator in times of high conference attendee volume.
- Maintains detailed paper and online records to track equipment and completed tasks/projects.
- Assists with technical support for Residential Education staff members.
- Work on other short-term projects as assigned.
Requirements for the position
- Available and committed to work from mid June - September. Up to one week of unpaid vacation can be taken in July or August, to be coordinated in advance with
managers.
- Able to work a regular 40 hr/week schedule.
- Available at least part time (8 hours a week) for training, starting May 19th, 2009.
- Attentive to an extremely high level of responsibility and customer service.
- Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills and the ability to handle paperwork competently.
- Able to work independently and take initiative in providing assistance.
- Experience using basic Internet applications, troubleshooting network connectivity problems, and installing network and printing hardware on Mac OS and Windows XP.
- Familiar with basic networking principles, especially TCP/IP.
- Possess good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to document work done.
